The scent of fish wafted into his senses as he tasted the air beside the riverbank. The sun's golden light danced upon the rippling and broken surface. The water parted around rocks that jetted out past the river's surface, redirecting the water's original and predictable motion. But like all rivers, and all things in llife, it moved past the obstacles in its way. Just as all living things ought to. Just like Spiritfur. He strode down his destined road in life, always certain that it was the right one. He was like all other cats though. He made mistakes. But he was also quick to learn from them, and hardly ever made the same mistake twice. And when things decided to get in his path, he would simply push them back, move around it, or overcome it in some form. It was out of character for him to let something get the better of him. He did have a stubborn will in his nature, and to allow something to dominate him other than Starclan or his leader was something the tom would not allow.
The river babbled peacfully, flowing along its set path. Slowly, with powerful, lean and bulky muscles tense and ready for the force of the river he was so used to, he moved into the river's current. Silver streaks of fish darted around his large paws as his long, sharp claws gripped the mud and rock beneath his paws. His off-white pelt was already wet from his previous entries. The sun was set high in the vast sky, and he had first come to hunt at the river just a little after the first light of dawn, when the sun began to rise and chase away the visibility of Starclan. And so, already he had caught five fish. All of average or above average size. He was, after all, a seasoned warrior, and knew how to hunt in these waters more moons ago that he could count.
With his left forepaw raised just below the river's surface, dark emerald eyes focused upon the silver streaks, he waited. Waited for the window of oppertunity his mentor and fatherhad alwasy told him to look for. And there! With pwoerful muscles pushing his paw down, claws extended and at the ready, he pinned a silvwer fish to the riverbed. The others around it scattered in a panic. Quickly, sinking his claws further into the fish, he lowered his head into the water, and lifted it with the fish wiggling between his sharp teeth. He turned, walking out of the river, water hanging from his whiskers like diamons as he bit down, ending the fish's struggle. He released his grip, letting it fall onto the grass and gave himself a good strong shake, water flying into the air. When he ceased, he picked the fish back up, and dropped it inot the hole with the others, hidden within a nearby bush.
Satified, though not completely, he moved back over to the river, entering its body once more, and again, stood at the ready.

Hailpelt trotted through through the trees, the beautiful sound of rushing water filling her ears. She pushed aside some ferns and padded onto the river's pebbly shore, the rocks smooth and cool against her paws. She yawned, her eyes narrowing to slits and the heat warming her back. The she-cat lay down, and rolled over, feeling like a kit, so happy and playful. Now if only she had someone to enjoy the weather with. Hailpelt could feel the water lapping at her ears, nice and refreshingly cold. She jumped up, and dipped her paws into the water, loving the feel and laughing as the water tickled her toes. Walking close enough to the water so that it would still reach her, the gray she-cat carried along down the shore. Up ahead, she could see a moving shape, padding to a bush, then back to the river. It was a cat, that was certain, and it's muscles rippled under it's sleek and wet pelt.
Quickening her pace, Hailpelt narrowed her eyes and immediatly identified the cat. It was Spiritfur, one of her clan mates. She slipped into the water, enjoying it's cool touch. Paws thrusting through the water with strong force, the grey she-cat sped through the water, and she headed towards Spiritfur, eyes shining with friendliness. "Hey Spiritfur!" she called out cheerfully to the half submerged tom. [/font] Tag: Hailpelt Word Count: 225 Lyrics: None again. -_- Muse: It vanished! © Crystal

The feel of the water's currents pushing and moving around his muscular form was welcoming to Spiritfur. There was nothing more enjoyable than the feel of the river against his white and silver mixed fur, thick and sleek. He stood there, watching the silver streaks dart past him. And yet, none came close enough for his claws to sink into. Despite the fact he had already managed to catch a good number of good sized fish, he still felt he could do better. He remembered his mentor Steamtail always telling him to push himself to the furthest limit, until he could no longer serve his duty for the day. There was still a patrol to be done, and far more hunting. What with Newleaf being here, there wasn'ty a single reason Spiritfur could think of that would permit him to slack off on bringing as much fresh-kill to the Riverclan camp as possible. Sure, perhaps he took his duties a bit too seriously. And maybe even at times, others would aviod him because of his focused, serious nature. His little brother Soulpelt was by far the more cheerful adn talkative between the two brother. But Spiritfur often tired of hearing hsi little brother's endless prating,a dn so for him, this moment was a rather nice one, free from hsi brother, enjoying the quiet and calm that came with hunting alone.
He stood in the same position for a while, paw still raised as he watched the silver streaks of fish begining to ignore his strong, muscular limbs that gripped the riverbed so finely. And just as he was about to take a swipe, the fish moved fastre and more frantic. A glint of frustration darted across his forest green eyes as he turned to see who had stirred up the fish. He half expected to see his little brother runnign down the river carelessly. But to his surprise, it was Hailpelt. She was a very interesting she-cat, he would suppose. And so, he allowed the frustration to ebb away, and a half grin to greet her as she approached him. He moved over to the more shallow water, knowing that there was no point in remaining there any longer. He shook himself, drops flying into the air, the sunlight catching on them, causing them to sparkle like star rocks (diamonds). He then settled upon his haunches, his face serious as always, though his eyes shone with warm welcome.
" Hello, Hailpelt."
His voice was clear and hinted at kindness, though he was never one to be overly excited about being around others of his clan. Not to say he didn't enjoy the company, though. So, he patiently waited for her response, turning his dark forest green eyes upon the rivers rippling surface as he waited.

Hailpelt slipped through the water, her fur soaking wet, though cool against her skin. She smiled at Spiritfur and sat a bit apart from him in the shallows, twitching her whiskers and making crystal water droplets fall into the water. Drip, drip.. they went, making music so wonderful to the grey she-cat's ears. She noticed the hole in which the tom had placed his caught prey, shielded by a bush, though the wind blew the scent towards her. She rubbed her paws in the mud, and it slipped in between her toes, tickling her.
"Hunting, I see. You're always caught up in your duties Spiritfur, don't you ever take a small nap, or a break of some sort? I'm sure you get tired." She looked away, down the river, silver flashes under the water's clear surface as the fish sped away from the two feline predators. Hailpelt flicked her ears, making more water droplets hit the river, and making more watery music. Her smile broadened, but she still didn't look at Spiritfur. He wasn't one to stop what he was doing and play around, and he didn't usually like company. Maybe I should leave... she thought. I'm probably bothering him. She contemplated this thought, arguing with herself as she waited for Spiritfur to answer. He wants me to leave, I'm going to go, one half of her said. No, don't! the other half told her. You should stay and keep him company! He should lighten up anyway. He's such a boring cat!
Hailpelt continued to argue with herself, waiting for the gray and white tom to respond to her words. Tag: Hailpelt Word Count: 268 Muse: Eh, I don't know. Lyrics: Still nothing. Other Notes/Ooc: Oh this is going to be fun. xD © Crystal

The river felt grand against Spiritfur's thick off-white and silver pelt. Thick and sleek, yet never too heavy for him to swim well. Spiritfur felt the mudd and rock beneath his large paws as he stood within the shallows with Hailpelt. He studied her with forest green eyes. She seemed to be out having a break at the moment, no fish rested upon her pelt currently, whilst he not only had a pile of fresh-kill hidden, but he too smelt of the prey he had been gathering for the clan. He was never the funnest cat to be around, really. But he had it somewhere in him. His brother was always the one who was the one who had inherited the more fun-loving side. And yet, Spiritfur knew his little brother was just as diligent about his duties as well. But from the large tom's past, he just couldn't bring himself to slack off. He was determiend to do anything and everything to please his deceased parents and mentor. He was eager to show thme he was, in fact, a special warrior. He didn't have an odd, rare destiny that involved saving the clan or anything. But if he worked at his best and hardest, he could make a difference in the welfare of Riverclan. And it started with ensuring there was more than enough food.
He shifted, lifting his left paw out of the water to lick it gently, removing the small pebble hat had wedged itself between his toes. It was rather wnnoying when that happened, but never did he allow anything to get the better of him. Though the one thing that did eat away at him was not going his duties as well as he knew he was capable of doing. He refocused on Hailpelt, watching the water shimmer upon her pelt, star-rock (diamonds) drops falling from her form. She was a beautiful she-cat, there was no denying that. But he had yet to feel anything for any she-cat. It was his brother that was the fun, cuter, more charming one, whilst Spiritfur was the fierce, powerful, yet silent one. Together, they made a perfect whole. He heard her words, and he offered a small grin, and a shrug of his strong shoulders.
" The fresh-kill is plentiful, so why not take advantage of it, and get more fresh-kill to the clan to make sure there's more than enough for everyone?"
Sure, his voice was serious, but he knew she had a good point. he was never one to take a break. Perhaps, he was boring. No, he knew he was boring. Not many sought his company because of this, though other toms did enjoy come hunting and going on patrols with Spiritfur, seeing as he left nothing unturned. He then noted an inner arugement going on through her. Or at least that was what it looked like. He had always been around his little brother, and knew what the expression looked like of a cat fighting within themselves. He looked back to his fresh-kill pile. Perhaps it was alright to take a small break. And it was then that he felt the more friendly, fun part of him rising to the surface. Without warning, he lifted he lifted himself upon his hind limbs, and brought his body down upon the river with force, sending water everywhere. This wa shis attempt at splashing Hailpelt. A gleam of mischeif danced across his gaze as he turned adn darted out of the water before she could return the favor. When he stood upon the lush green grass, he turned to face her, tail lashing about in amusement, a small smile upon his face, his stance screaming for her to come have a mock fight with him. A wrestling match, just for fun.

{Summer air reminds me of} {All the feelings of your love} {And what it was like} {When we were together oh} {Walking on along the beach} "The fresh-kill is plentiful, so why not take advantage of it, and get more fresh-kill to the clan to make sure there's more than enough for everyone?"
Hailpelt was still lingering on Spiritfur's calm and quiet words, when that wave rose, swallowing up the she-cat, soaking her to her skin. Not knowing what had hit her, she was knocked over immediately. The water had just resided when she saw Spiritfur run onto the shore, an amused smile on his handsome features, his eyes telling her to come and wrestle. Hailpelt staggered out of the water, her pelt heavy with water. She shook herself, making sure her fellow Riverclanner felt the tiny droplets on his body. She looked at him, calmly, for a few moments, head tipped to the side just slightly, eyes shining.
And in those moments, something flickered in the grey she-cat's eyes. It was barely noticeable, but it was there. And then she pounced, letting out a musical peal of laughter. Hailpelt soared through the air, aiming to land on Spiritfur's muscular shoulders.
