Welcome to the site! You'll notice that we have an Xat box down at the bottom of the screen. Many people prefer Cbox or something else and think that Xat is annoying and loud. It can be, but if you know how to use it, it is the best chat box ever!
Now for your name. If you do not use Xat a lot, or it is your first time, you will have a random name like BumblePook, LoviePie, or something weird like that. To change your name, simply click your name and you can edit it from there. (You will always appear at the top of the list. That is how you know who you are.)
Now, once you have clicked your name, you are taken to the user menu. From here you can enter your name and homepage, and choose an avatar.
If you do not have your own avatar, you can use a standard one. Xat has 1000's of them for you to choose from. If you want a personal avatar, just put a link to any image. Even if you just found it off of google images, it will still work.
If you have a website you want our users to see, put the url to it in the Home Page section. Finally, just be sure to hit the OK button to save any changes you have made. If you hit the X it goes back to the way it was before you edited it.
If you do not like the annoying sounds of the Xat chat box, hit the little volume button and everything will be nice and peaceful.
There are default smileys on the chat box, you may use these just don't do it a lot. That's called spam.
Okay, now that you have your personal stuff out of the way, here is a small guide on what the little pawns mean. (The pawns, as they are officially called, are the little dudes that show up next to your name.) The pawns show others if you are in charge or if you are just a member.
This is the pawn that is given to owners. It means that they have total control of the chat box. They can ban and kick members and guests.
The white pawns are moderators. They are second in command. They can still kick and ban people, but they can only ban you for 6 hours at a time.
Members, are people that have joined the site. They don't really have any special powers, but they are more special then guests.
Green means guest. Guests are just visiting, where as members stay and talk more.
Red means that a user is offline.
If you see one of these guys, leave them alone. That means that an owner or moderator has banned them for some reason or another.
This is one you will not often see. Gray means you are ignoring a certain member. Only you have the power to ignore people. When you ignore someone, it blocks out their PC's, PM's, and messages.
If someone has this little house icon in their name, it means they have a website they are putting out for people to see. So you can click and see their site!
Kick: A kick can be issued by a mod or owner, when a member breaks a rule. It does not ban you, it simply logs you out for a couple of seconds. This is just a warning to not do it again.
Ban: When you are banned, it means you have broken many rules or you are annoying a staff member. Mods can ban for 1-6 hours while Owners can ban any where from 1 hour to forever.
S.P.A.M: Shot Pointless Annoying Message(s). Using smileys over and over in one sentence is considered spam.
PC: Private Chat. You can PC another user to talk to them privately in another window without any other users being able to see it.
PM: Basically the same thing as a PC except it's not in another chat window. It shows up with a little lock so you know that only you and the other user can see the message.
How to send a PC/PM: simply click the user's name to send a PC or PM. You can also add people as buddies.
If you need any more help, ask a staff member.
